Elections

The day after election day brings out the worst in people. Whoever loses gets angry and yells and says things like "we're all gonna die," "there goes the country," and whatnot. I wish people used their brains. For instance, this was the status of one of my facebook "friends" today:

"The GOP committed the perfect crime. They created the economic downturn we are now in, then prevented and blocked any and all legislation that the Dems proposed that would have fixed it, transferred the blame for the stagnant economy to the Dems, and somehow convinced the electorate that...they could still save America. Many of the people voted in yesterday are former Wall Street executives. Do you honestly think they will represent any one but their Wall Street buddies in Congress?"

Yeah, uh huh. Come on, people. Believe what you want about whether or not you want a Republican or a Democrat in office and vote for that person. I totally support your right to your own opinion. But this conspiracy theory "all Republicans are evil and planned the utter doom of our nation" stuff is over the top (same goes the other way. I've heard things like "Obama is the AntiChrist," which I'm also pretty sure is not true). Nobody is smart enough to pull that off. Really. The votes landed as they did. Nobody plotted or planned for it to happen that way. Let it be. And contrary to popular belief, we are NOT all gonna die. Everything is going to be okay. Seriously, it will be.

That's what makes our country great - the PEOPLE get the right to choose who they want in office. And they did. And if it doesn't work out, they'll vote differently in 4 years. I don't ever want to lose that freedom.
